Georgetown is a fun place to spend an entire day or afternoon. There are so many things to see and discover. You can have a leisurely walk around its tree-lined streets while admiring its colorful houses and beautiful architecture.While walking around, there are many significant historical landmarks that you should keep your eye out for. Check out the Old Stone House, built in 1765 on M Street which is the oldest standing house in Washington D.C, or Oak Hill Cemetery where are buried Abraham Lincoln's son, Willie and other important historical figures.

Also, be on the lookout for Dumbarton Oaks, the house of former U.S vice president John C. Calhoun and the City Tavern Club, built in 1796 which is the oldest commercial building in D.C. Don't forget to stop by the historical Chesapeake and Ohio CanalNational Historical Park, which was begun 1829, and Georgetown University's historic campus.



Georgetown is known for its great shopping, and you will find all types of stores and shops selling almost anything you can think of. This is a great place to purchase antiques and rare artifacts for your home. There are also a lot of galleries selling exceptional pieces of art but these can be expensive. Check out the Anne C. Fisher Gallery, the Govinda Gallery, and the Parish Gallery. If you're on a budget, Georgetown also features many national chains such as Urban Outfitters, American Eagle and the Gap.
